Creative Assistance and Development (CAD) is a local, non-governmental humanitarian and development organization that aims to find sustainable solutions to improve the living standards of communities in various sectors, including Education, Health and Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Protection and community outreach programmes, and to thus contribute to the ultimate goal of our organization: To end poverty through implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in all our areas of operation.
CAD is a non-profit organization that was founded in June 2021 with the aim to end poverty, but also focuses on several other issues faced by people living in rural and/or poor communities. Its main social development goals include eliminating extreme poverty, increasing financial opportunities, developing skills for employment, and investing in education.
Additionally, CAD also focuses on mobilization of communities and empowering them to sustainably carry out projects that will strengthen their resilience and hence reduce their vulnerability through creation of sustainable livelihoods and access to basic services. To this end, CAD empowers crisis-affected communities to better manage local risks and shocks for increased resilience and self-reliance through agriculture, environment protection, and water and sanitation interventions.
Creative Assistance and Development (CAD) mainly focuses on actions that directly improve on the lives of the poor, vulnerable and marginalized communities in urban, peri-urban and rural areas. CAD also invests in community empowerment programs that contribute towards poverty eradication through the provision of sustainable integrated technical and material support, in broad areas of sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, health promotion, education improvement, income generation, water and environmental sanitation, lobbying and advocacy.

We empower communities through education; we improve their resilience to economic shocks through access to sustainable livelihood opportunities; we help them shape their own futures and we share in the development of the communities we serve.
Creative Assistance and Development (CAD) has five (5) members on its Board of Directors. The Board is made up of the following positions: Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and 2 other members. It decides on the strategic direction of the organization and makes decisions on organizational policy, conducts assessments of project implementation, reviews achievements, and develops plans for expansion. The Board approves budget plans, financial reports and audits, and takes on contract agreement decisions.
A well-established team consists of well-qualified and competent staff headed by the Executive Director who is supported by a qualified senior management staff whose composition includes: Project Managers/Coordinators, Operations and Finance Managers, and, technical and support staff, including Senior Officers, Officers and Assistants.
CAD also has field offices where project activities in those areas are run by a pool of committed full-time professional staff who are well-grounded and technically competent professionals in project planning and management.
Our work will be clustered around six main thematic areas with strategic objectives, which integrate both policy and programmatic work.
Creative Assistance and Development (CAD) was established and registered in Garowe, Puntland State of Somalia and started its initial operations in September 2021 to address the public health affecting IDPs and host communities in Garowe, Somalia. Since its inception, CAD also intends to expand programming geographically to meet relief and development needs across Puntland State of Somalia in various sectors, including Education, Health and Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Protection and community outreach programmes. However, our goals are to extend our activities and services to other regions of Somalia at the appropriate future.
Our mandate and strategic focus for the next five years is anchored in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10.
